Black Label Society Releases “Set You Free”, Announces New Album

Black is back! Zakk Wylde is set to reappear with his band Black Label Society, returning with the new song “Set You Free” today, coinciding with the announcement of the group’s latest studio album, Doom Crew Inc., which is expected on November 26 via eOne.

During a pandemic off-road year, Wylde found inspiration in the group’s “first to bleed, last to go” road team and the legion of support the group has amassed over the years, noting that Doom Crew Inc. is considered their tribute.

Wylde and his band – guitarist Dario Lorina, longtime bassist John “JD” Deservio and drummer Jeff Fabb – recorded the album at Zakk’s Black Vatican studio, marking the fourth album recorded at his birthplace. “Since Order of the Black, we make all the Black Label donuts here, ”he says proudly. “We make them, put them in the oven, then pack and ship them. “

The group started with almost 30 songs for the album before narrowing it down to the 12 that will appear on the set. Speaking about the creation of the record, Wylde added, “We incorporated Father Dario even more into the solos, doubling down with me and being more involved in that regard. It’s really, really a two-guitar album, more than ever. A group of twin guitars, whether the Allman Brothers or Judas Priest, with harmony lines, unison lines and exchange solos. It came out of the shows, where we both went into the crowd and extended songs like “Fire It Up”.

Meanwhile, Black Label Society will be hitting the road for the “Doom Trooping Over North America” tour which kicks off in October with the Obituary and Prong openings. The nearly two-month trek will begin October 1 in Sacramento and end November 28 in Albuquerque. The group also planned a quick getaway for the week between Christmas and New Years Eve with Prong and Armored Saint. See dates and get ticketing information here.

Black Label Society, lyrics to “Set You Free”

This passage of time
Because I have always been
Through the shadows of doubt
Again and again

All you wished for
All you need
Give up your regrets
And then you will see

Take my hand
Walk with me
A world without end
i will set you free

Promises made
The oppressor of lies
The lie of the truth
Who can never die

Black Label Society, “Free Yourself”

Black Label Society, Doom Crew Inc. Illustration + track listing

Free yourself
Destroy and conquer
You made me want to live
Eternity and a Day
End of days
Ruins
Abandoned
Love reigns below
Gospel of lies
Shelter me
Collect all my sins
Farewell ballad
