Do you know a young Friendly Future Maker? TELUS launches

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Aug. 08, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TELUS is celebrating young people across Canada by launching the Future Creator Friendly Awards, inviting Canadians to name the friendly future maker in their lives who is creating lasting change in their community. Canadians can nominate a Friendly Future Maker between the ages of 13 and 19 to Applicants will be entered to win one of six prize packages worth $7,000, which includes $5,000 for an RESP or to help fund their initiative, a $1,000 TELUS gift card and a $1,000 donation to the registered charity of their choice. Inspired by TELUS’ longstanding promise, Make the Future Friendly, this national call builds on that momentum and helps empower young Canadians who are helping to make the world a better place. The Friendly Future Makers Awards are open for nominations until September 26 and winners will be announced online October 24.

To continue to drive meaningful and innovative change, a winner will be chosen, by a jury, in each of the TELUS social purpose categories:

  • Connection activator – help build human connections by being a mentor or volunteering at a local retirement home
  • community builder – give back to those who need it most by volunteering in your neighborhood or through small acts of kindness
  • Health and wellness help – taking care of the mental and/or physical health of your community through care packages or monitoring your neighbors
  • hunger heroes – help feed communities through neighborhood gardens or food drives
  • planet protector – give back to protect the planet by picking up waste or recycling it
  • Future Friendly Maker – create change in your community to make the future friendly, outside of the five categories or in multiple categories
