Motovilikha factories relaunch their steel deliveries in Europe with the support of Rostec

MOSCOW, RUSSIA, May 13, 2021 / – Civil Engineering LLC (part of PJSC Molovilikha Plants, managed by RT-Capital of Rostec State Coproration) has resumed, after a 5-year shutdown, export deliveries of metallurgical products, used in the production of agricultural and household appliances, to Germany.

The company has signed four contracts with leading metallurgical companies (product distributors, including metalworking services) for the supply of metallurgical forging products from five grades of steel, including alloy steel . Under the terms of the contract, the company will ship more than 700 tonnes of steel by the end of the year.

“The Rostec state-owned company is currently carrying out an extensive anti-crisis program with the Motovilikha Plants group of companies. These measures are aimed at improving production efficiency, developing new types of products, providing additional orders to the civil and military production sectors, restructuring of the production site, as well as possible cooperation with d other Russian industrial companies. The program enabled Motovilikha’s civilian production division to actively expand the geography of export deliveries of metallurgical products to non-CIS countries. Today, exports to Europe account for around 20% of the total share of foreign sales. This is already at least twice as high as last year. The new contracts will help the company to make production more profitable and, depending on demand, expand the range of high-tech steel grades in the overall portfolio of products supplied to Europe, ”said Kirill Fedorov, Managing Director of RT-Capital.

The supplied steel grades are mainly used for the manufacture of parts of machines, tractors and various household appliances. In Germany, steel billets undergo mechanical processing and then are delivered to end users, who are among the country’s largest machine-building factories.

The steel produced by Motovilikha has successfully passed tests for compliance with quality requirements for chemical composition and specifications, including the potential range of applications and Euronorm requirements.

Motovilikha Factories (“Motovilikhinskie Zavody”) combines facilities for metallurgical production and mechanical engineering. Motovilikha – Civil Engineering LLC produces metallurgical products (forgings, stampings, rolled sections), SKB CJSC manufactures military equipment (artillery, mortars and multiple rocket launcher systems). The company is under the management of RT-Capital LLC.

Motovilikha – Civil Engineering is a manufacturer of civil products of the Motovilikha Plants PJSC group of companies. The company manufactures suction cup rods, drill collars and kellies, reconditioning tools and a wide range of metallurgical products.

RT-Capital is a subsidiary of the Rostec State Corporation which deals with non-core and problematic assets. The company is implementing debt restructuring and financial recovery measures for companies under the Rostec state-owned company, which also deals with property management.
