O’Shea to host pop-up bakery for charity | Community News

19th district of Ald. Matt O’Shea will be hosting the Misericordia Christmas Pop-Up Shop at the Beverly Arts Center (BAC), 2407 W. 111th St., from Friday November 19 through Sunday November 21.

This year, women from the parish of St. Cajetan Roman Catholic Church are volunteering to help with the sales.

The Misericordia pop-up store will be open at the BAC on Friday November 19 from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, November 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday November 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Baked goods and other goodies made by over 80 residents include brownie hearts from Misericordia’s Hearts & Flour bakery, as well as a variety of breads (including the ever popular Irish soda bread), fudge, l peppermint rind, caramel, caramel and Cajun crunch, tree pretzel and spicy pecans.

In addition, boxes of Christmas cards featuring artwork from residents of Misericordia will be available.

Misericordia Heart of Mercy, 6300 N. Ridge Rd., Sits on a 31-acre campus in Chicago and is home to more than 600 children and adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities. Its outreach program offers a variety of services and activities for 150 other families.

Considered a national model, Misericordia offers a full continuum of care as well as residential placements, work opportunities, therapy and recreation programs.
