1:00 p.m. – The Brazilian-American investment company 3G Capital Inc, majority shareholder of Kraft Heinz Co, urge Vice-Chancellor Lori Will has dismissed a derivative lawsuit brought by minority investors in the food giant. The suit accused Executives at 3G and Kraft Heinz urged “cost-cutting” measures that led to the company’s decline after the $ 46 billion merger of HJ Heinz Co and Kraft Foods Group Inc. 3G and appointed members of the board denied wrongdoing.
The case is In Re Kraft Heinz Co Derivative, Delaware Court of Chancery, No. 2019-0587. 12:45 p.m. – Investment firm Brookfield Asset Management Inc urge the Delaware Supreme Court to dismiss a lawsuit brought by former shareholders of TerraForm Power Inc challenging the asset manager’s purchase of $ 650 million of shares in the renewable energy company. Brookfield said the lower court should have dismissed the lawsuit because shareholders lacked standing to bring their claims.
The case is Brookfield Asset Management Inc. v. Rosson, Delaware Supreme Court, No. 406.2020. 10:00 a.m. – U.S. District Judge Fernando Olguin in Los Angeles to hear competing offers for principal applicant status in a proposal class action against electric vehicle company Canoo Inc. The company went public through a merger with a special-purpose acquisition company last year. Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, Levi & Korsinsky, The Rosen Law Firm and Pomerantz are all vying for their clients to lead the case.
The case is Blake v. Canoo Inc, US District Court, Central District of California, # 21-CV-02873.
